By the end of the 2019 spring semester students in middle and high schools across all fifty states will have had the chance to dive in, explore, and investigate diverse marine environments across the globe.
Their goal? To stop the destruction of our greatest natural resource, the ocean. Student scientists set off on a journey of exploration and discovery at dive sites in the IndoPacific, Eastern Atlantic, and Eastern Pacific.
Toggling between virtual and digital environments, the FB&I students scientists explore the impacts of abiotic factors on biotic variables across three tropical marine environments in which venomous marine snails are found. Throughout the BioDive experience, students make observations, collect data, and develop hypotheses around the changes they see.
BioDive is aligned with NGSS standards so students are gaining valuable content knowledge during their immersive experience. By following the scientific processes of inquiry, discovery, and questioning, students role play as scientists to examine threats facing our oceanic biodiversity.
